Internship - Bachelor

Internships are an essential complement to theoretical teaching and are an integral part of the first cycle programme.

The value of the annual internship is 20 ECTS credits. The duration of the internships is 4 months per year, and they are structured around a progression and supervision plan established by the institute, entitled "MANUEL DU STAGIAIRE". This contains a progress guide, allowing an objective evaluation of the work done by the student during the internship. In this way, students remain in constant contact with the institute and inform it of the results of their work plan and their progress.

The work placement agreement, signed by the student, the company and the BBI, is drawn up in accordance with the European Charter for Students in Training as drawn up by HOTREC, an organisation representing professionals from the various national federations.

Internships are carried out mainly in large international hotel chains and tourism organisations, depending on national and international availability.

Internships can also be offered:

  • In organisations in the hotel and tourism sector, bearing in mind that this should be taken in the broad sense, as defined by the UNWTO, i.e. including hotels, resorts, SPAs, condominiums, restaurants, catering, sports and leisure clubs, theme parks, travel, cruise ships, airlines, retirement homes for the elderly, etc.
  • In any other commercial or industrial sector provided, that the internship is related to marketing, finance, human resources, general administration or international management functions.

The internship is also a valuable international experience. More than 80% of our students do their internship abroad. Each year they take advantage of this opportunity to enrich their professional and personal experience.

It is the student's responsibility to find an internship. However, BBI helps each student to choose the most appropriate internship by organising several visits to hotel companies through its professional network, as well as "Career Days" and access to the HOSCO professional platform.

Career Days

The HOSPITALITY CAREER DAYS take place every year. These days bring together companies from the hotel and catering sector from different European countries. These companies provide an opportunity for students, and staff to meet informally and discuss the direction the companies are taking and how this fits in with their educational and career goals. During these events, companies also offer internships to students.

Hosco Platform

In the context of internships, this platform is the meeting point between education and the professional world. This innovative tool allows students to pursue excellence in their careers, but also allows companies to select the best candidates for the positions they offer. Through a single point of contact, students from selected hotel schools use "HOSCO" to access leading hotel companies and their job opportunities in the global market. This platform allows students to select and make informed choices regarding their internship, but also to directly and easily all relevant information regarding social legislation, living conditions, etc. for each country. Also thanks to this unique platform, the hotel companies, which are members, have access in real time to the largest number of highly qualified candidates for internships. Thanks to this "community", employers have a visual for RECRUITING young talent that best matches their company's values.
